When it comes to Transgender issues it is important to know that some myths and misconceptions are repeated consistently in the media.

Trans women are women who were AMAB (assigned male at birth) and transitioned to female; trans men are men who were AFAB (assigned female at birth); and non-binary people are people who do not identify with male or female (and may be AFAB or AMAB).

LGBT+ HISTORY MONTH 2025 MAIN.png

History has shown us that social progress isn’t handed down from the powerful; it’s wrestled from them by those brave enough to demand better.

Activism isn’t always loud or confrontational.

It’s about quietly refusing to conform, asserting your identity in hostile environments, or simply being visible in a world that prefers you invisible.

27th January is Holocaust Memorial Day

This years theme is  Ordinary People  that we put aside to come together to remember, to learn about the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and the genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur, in the hope that there may be One Day in the future with no genocide.

We learn more about the past, we empathise with others today, and we take action for a better future.

The Social Model of Disability is the concept that disability results from the interaction between a person’s characteristics and their unsuitable environment not their medical condition.

An environment filled with barriers will create a significant difference in experience for a large number of disabled people.

The Health and Safety at Work Act puts a legal duty on employers to ensure the health & safety, and welfare of their employees.

Health & safety legislation requires that employers do everything “reasonably practicable” to ensure the safety of their employees and others.

Through reasonable adjustments in place to enable disabled people to continue to enjoy employment as a valued team member.

5th -11th June 2023 the theme for Carers Week is 'Make caring visible, valued and supported'.

We believe that unpaid carers and the challenges of caring should be recognised in all areas of life, caring should be valued and respected by everyone in our society, and carers should have access to the information and support they need, where and when they need it.

In practice, it means trying to stop or suppress someone from being gay, or from living as a different gender to their sex recorded at birth.

It can include talking therapies and prayer, more extreme forms can include "exorcisms, physical violence and food deprivation", some forms, such as "corrective" rape, are already illegal

This campaign developed by workers for workers is part of our collective response to address gender-based violence in the workplace and in the wider community.

Employers must have a duty of care to ensure workers are able to get home safely from work at night.

The huge social and political changes that the country has seen over the last few years have given rise to major social divisions especially along the lines of race, ethnicity, religion and nationality.

One of the most worrying consequences of this is the sharp rise in reported race hate crimes which have increased by almost 30% since 2016.

RECLAIMING THE NARRATIVE Template.png

Where would society be today without inventors and positive creations of Black and Asian Ethnic Minority (BAEM) people in the community?

BAEM people have contributed to our society and their input is often unknown or not found in our education or history books.

Justice For Colombia promotes links of solidarity between British and Irish trade unions and organisations in Colombia and gives a political voice internationally to Colombian civil society through our work in the British, Irish and EU Parliaments.

Colombia is the most dangerous place in the world to be a trade unionist. Every year numerous union leaders, union activists and union members are assassinated – simply because of their trade union activities.
